- Rollerskate lovers
![]()
Here is a little poem wot I wrote after a lovely afternoon whizzing around Hyde park and Kensington gardens with my boyfriend
ROLLERSKATE LOVERS
*
Glide me down swiftly, so fleet
choosing this path takes me into your arms
gentle the arc I draw
twice two the figure eight
round and round I’m a carousel
hold me tight, no alarms
*
Look at me! slicing the breeze
darling, my coming is only for you
The wind brushes my face
sunshine plays in my hair
racing, the beat of my heart
I’m alive! everything’s new!
*
Avenues of trees slide by
for the moment you are lost to my view
so wheel the wheel backward
you are still out of my sight
turn the full circle, where are you?
with eyes for me so true
*
Look there! our tryst, we shall meet
our paths love will cross once more, you and I
nothing can stop us now
joyful collision sure
hand holding hand, happily we
my head on your shoulder I sigh.
*
Listen to Hayley Westenra sing Scarborough fayre on my page with that name, I promise you she will blow you away

is that you? you’re so pretty!
i like this poem, i can see you and him skating, a world of your own
On a extraordinarily good day Amanda, right now I look a mess [more coffee needed]
I thought I had captured a little bit, but you are the only one who has commented, if you are ever in London on a sunny week-end pop over to Kens gdns & H.P. there’s always some of the guys whizzing round. this is the poem I,ve enjoyed writing the most.
I can see you whizzing around Trafalgar Sq. Hair flying with the speed you travel, pigeons darkening the sky as you cause them to flight.
I ramble.
Yes you are very easy to look at and I would make a portrait of you Lord Lichfield would be proud to have taken.
sweet
Wonderful poem I enjoyed reading the poem…
Keep up the great work…
Good day to you dear Teck, how nice of you to visit.
Such a romantic poem indeed..well written
Hey Aboy you snook in and most welcome you are too, thanks and from such a good writer as you are it’s a real compliment.
Blissful moment yet so well outspoken.
I know it’s not all of what life is about Babes, but it’s part of too, I wonder if Hitler or Mussolini or Stalin ever roller skated
If Hitler or Mussolini or Stalin ever had roller skated … I guess there wouldn’t be any sophisticated technology other than cockoo clock and chocolate maker machinery as you can find in most parts of Switzerland
.
This poem is exhilerating! It maintains the whirling sense of rhythm of skaters. And I love how you finally unite with a sigh.
Roller skate lover really captures a moment. The fourth stanza really captures the whole playfulness of the entire poem.
Did you do the illustration? Its very good!
Both my scribbled illustrations and my writings are totally new found talents just this year, this was my first illustration because I simply couldn’t find a good pic on line, I wouldn’t put it forward as a work of art, but others have said nice things about it. thanks
that’s such a great story captured so well in the poem…and a nice sketch aswell…
Hey, nice to see you Shoe, this was one of my first little powems and the first attempt at a scribble, it is amazing that I could find no pics to illustrate two rollerbladers on the net but there you are. Thanks for visiting, have a nice day
