The following is an extract from “A turgid stem”
*
I heard a young boy singing
*
The man in the market shouts his wares
“wisdom for sale, wisdom for sale…”
“how odd” say you
“in what amounts? show me your scale”
You can’t buy wisdom at any price
not with cash nor with cheque,
folly you can have at the throw of the dice.
I heard a young boy singing
his music filled the air
and though he sang a sad song
when he saw me standing there
he smiled at me and I smiled back
and took him home to tea.
Splash my garden with marigolds
garnish my dish with it’s herbs
I’ll take my walks down country lanes
which never yet had kerbs

Peace, faith, love and joy. Wonderful post, Suz.
Wonderful you, thanks, take care, Suz
very nice!
i was going to write about my favorite part, and to my surprise it was not the clever bits about buying wisdom but:
“splash my garden with marigolds”
^_^
Hello and welcome Kevin, I still am only a baby poet you’ve encouraged me. thanks
i like the phrase baby poet too. lol
made me remember that i used to write poetry. heres an old one:
mosquito
do not seek my skin
for if here you delay
you will be swept away
in crimson sin
though you might want
to quench your thirst
by innocent sip
you shall not have a bit
till by death im cursed
you may buzz in vain
but if you be smart
now take flight
for i need more than simple bite
to let stain from my heart
i think you’ve inspired me to dig up all my old poems & put them on a blog! (even if they are silly like this one!)
Hee how old were you when you wrote that? my first renditions were all about froggies “Freddy the flying frog, not” way, way down this page somewhere. luv Suz
