Beautiful sung to Cavatina
Lord You were beautiful
beautiful to behold
in Your shame Lord
and in weakness
God’s love unfold.
*
There stood where I should have stood
in Your love You took my place
in Your Person You were bearing
all of my disgrace.
*
(I never could have known the cost to You
for You to set me free)
*
(2 bar riff)
*
No, not in majesty
comeliness to behold
but in pain Lord
and in sorrow
God’s love unfold.
*
There stood a felon in bonds
so that I might go free
oh I love you Lord Jesus
on Calvary’s tree.
*
(extra verse) Yes, You are beautiful
beautiful to behold
not in power
but in weakness
God’s love unfold.
*
So very beautiful
God’s love behold.

In the bleak mid winter
*
In the bleak mid winter
frosty wind make moan
earth stood hard as iron
water like a stone
snow had fallen, snow on snow
snow on snow
in the bleak mid winter
long so long ago
*
Lay Him in a manger
though He is Lord of all
poverty will teach Him
to hear us when we call
in the bleak mid winter
a stable place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty
Jesus Christ
*
I never would have known Him
though He was sent for me
if He had come in splendour
with might and majesty
this is heaven’s wonder
that such a one as He
with love so warm and tender
should stoop so low for me
*
Oh What can I give Him?
poor as I am
if I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb
if I were a wise man
I would do my part
yet what can I give Him
give Him my heart
*
Oh that I could love Him
and show Him all His worth
but I am only human
a child of this earth
when He comes in glory
then my tongue will tell
I will kneel before Him
in the angel swell.
*
In the bleak mid winter was written by Christina Georgina Rossetti 1830-94.I have retained her version of the 1st and 4th stanzas and part of the 2nd stanza. Here is the carol as she wrote it sung beautifully by Corrinne May. Or is it …SULZ?!!

My Beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold He stands behind our wall, gazing in at the windows, looking through the lattice. Song of Solomon. chapter 2. verse 9. revised standard version.

Spouse
*
Jesus, looking in my window
oh is He calling me?
“arise belov’d and steal away
the winter is gone you can see.”
*
Fair flow’rs in the earth appearing
fragrant blossoming trees
voice of the love-dove fills the land
awakening love as it please.
*
Sustain me with raisins
refresh me with apples
for I am sick with love.
*
My Lord is as an apple tree
beneath His shade I rest
and taste the sweetness of His fruit
the while in His Presence so blest.
*
My Lord has got a feasting house
a place is set for me
while o’er me His banner of love
is there for ev’ryone to see.
*
Sustain me with raisins
refresh me with apples
for I am sick with love.
*
Jesus, looking in my window
I know He’s calling me
“arise belov’d and steal away
come join sweet fellowship with Me.”

He’s Alive!
*
He’s alive!
the world shall hear it
Jesus risen from the dead
let the heralds far and near it
“See where your Lord lay”
the angels did say
“He is not here,
have no more fear”
Jesus is alive.
*
He’s alive!
nature’s course defeating
Jesus risen from the dead
Satan’s wrath and malice cheating
“glad tidings go tell,
your sorrow dispel,
death’s sting is gone
the Victor has won.”
Jesus is alive.
*
He’s alive!
the battle’s over
since He rose up from the grave
earth’s four corners will discover
God’s promise is real
and this is the seal
pardon is sure
and life ever more.
Jesus is alive .
*
Hallelujah! Jesus is alive.

The Totton Linnet
*
That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter “it is the Lord.”
St. john. ch:21. vs:7. (a communion hymn)
“It is the Lord”
*
It is the Lord who’s come to meet us
feel the cheery fire glow
let us gather round to greet Him
our risen Master we would know
Welcome Jesus, welcome Jesus
fill each heart to overflow.
*
It is the Lord, He bids us supper
break the bread, pour the wine.
Bring His words to sweet remembrance
here is substance and no mere sign
Welcome Jesus, welcome …..
*
Let’s think about the way He saved us
cruelly nailed to the tree
with His sacrifice accepted
God’s grace poured out so rich and free.
Welcome Jesus, welcome …..
*
It is the Lord, brother, sister
He’s made us family
none the lesser none the greater
our hearts knit in sweet unity
Welcome Jesus, welcome …..
*
It is the Lord let’s be thankful
for all He’s made us to be
as we wait for His appearing
to take us home with Him to be
*
Forevermore with Him to be.

The Totton Linnet

ooh sorry i nearly miss this! i like rosetti’s poems – studied a couple for literature – and i like corinne may too. and haha no, i don’t look like that (have you been to my protected post? i put pictures of me there) and she’s singaporean.
and i can’t sing!
I got phased when I tried to locate your pics [annnnd you are such a hit hussy] but I will make a special effort, I thought Singapore was Malaysia, my geography is awful, I used to spend the whole lesson staring out the window. I can see why you would like Corrine, I’ve only just discovered her, isn’t she lovely.
haha the pics are in a protected post, you need to search the post that will give you the password! but if you can’t find it just send me an email and i’ll give it. have you heard birthday song by corrinne? it’s beautiful. well, singapore is next to malaysia, the mistake is understandable.
my geograph sucks too lol.
I will send an email, yes I ran through a few C.M. vids, she is unspoiled by great success, she obviously has a following judging by the number of views and she seems to have been around a while, hey I am not like B0bbyG,I,m bang up to date [somewhere in the 16th century date that is-mind you I've discovered the Beatles]
That’s a really good song, and I like that tune, I haven’t heard it before.
In the Bleak Midwinter is a great carol; utterly factually innaccurate, of course, but beautiful.
What do you mean, I’m not up to date? I guess I am behind reading most blogs at the moment.
If you’re in the 16th Century, oh good, maybe you can do my history project for me!
It’s my wording BG what I said was YOU are up to date and I’m not like you, I’m in the 16th cent. Greensleeves and stuff, I do like some rock music but not much. I’ve jus been over to Clouds [trying to impress her that I’m not a Dork
Take care, luv Suz.
Well, I’m not up to date with my music either, I’m still in the 20th century! Clouds is in the future, so she has us both beat. Don’t worry, though, since you won’t be more of a dork than Clouds!
Oh what a QIUET!
I’m not sure what you mean Babes? are you up to date with Rhyming Yack? or are you disapproving? [we will still be friends-dammit]
Sorry for the typo but I befriend you always
Yack? Rhyming Yack? NO!
I’m up to date with you though.
^
Yay! I’m the 5000th visitor!!!
Yay you are, and nobody I would rather.
This is lovely, 2nd stanza of My Dove says I was asleep with heart “quaked”?
OOH i LOVE teddy bears, hi, thanks for visiting, it says “with heart awaked” my awful handwriting apologies. luv Suz
Thank you for sharing this, I asked Jesus to come into my heart. I am so happy.
