Many people when forming a theory and sorting facts, ask positive questions. In this instance, ask a negative question, as in, What would Nixon lose if Kennedy remained in office?
His chance to become president.
JFK was forming his royal family, his own Camelot. He would assuredly been reelected for a second term through 1968. His brother Bobby, the attorney general, would have been elected from 1969 through 1976. And Teddy, would have been kept on a short lease and would never have driven Mary Jo home that fateful night and would have been elected president for two terms from 1977 through 1984.
